The course aims to provide theoretical and practical skills necessary to approach contemporary photography and new media strategies, with a focus on themes and methodologies related to post photography, altering, modifying and transcending the photographic medium.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
The course is structured around two key pillars, which will be explored in depth throughout the program: Transmedia narratives and Impact/Circulation
Transmedia Narratives: This module focuses on guiding participants in defining and developing their projects through regular and intensive sessions. It covers tipics such as Post-Photography, Automated Image, Post-Documentary.
Impact / Circulation: This module centers on the project's impact, it's distribution, communication and relationship with the audience. Topics such as Visual Literacy, Transmedia Communication and Self-Promotion Strategies will be addressed.
TEACHING METHOD
The course is held to weekends per month, combining online lessons with five intensive in-person weekends in the heart of Florence, Italy at Studio Marangoni, offering students a unique opportunity to learn from international artists and professionals in a dynamic and inspiring environment.
WHO IS IT FOR:
Filling The Gap is a one-year advanced training program designed for photographers, researchers and image designers. It si particularly suited to those working in post-photography and post-documentary strategies. The goal is to help participants to build a strong authorial position in their area of interest and to operate within an international panorama. The program adapts on an individual basis an specific themes and their application to both visual creation and presentation.

Duration: January 2025 To November 2025
Format: blended learning
Schedule: 2 times a month block seminars (online + 5 weekends full emersion in Florence)
Cost: € 4.800,00 - Scholarships available covering € 3.000,00 / student € 1.800,00)

Fondazione Studio Marangoni, in its second edition in 2025, offers10 scholarships for the course FILLING THE GAP of 3.000€ partially covering the tuition fee (ISEE/ Financial Situation Indicator under € 30.000). This is the list of documents to submit for the selection process:
• Portfolio of a photography project
• Short artistic bio
• Proposal for the project you would like to develop during the course (around 500 words)
• ISEE 2024 (Financial Situation Indicator under € 30.000 if you are applying for a scholarship)
Please also note that the course will take place on weekends, partly online (once a month) and partly in person (once a month).
At the end of the program, a group exhibition will be organized for students who have completed their projects, where certificates of attendance will be awarded.
